MCQ Item Development

The multiple choice question examination (MCQ) is composed of 220 multiple choice questions, or items.

It is important for the CDMRE to have many items in the bank to ensure that two MCQs may be administered in a year with a majority turnover of the questions on the exam. Questions represent all areas of the competency profile and are selected for an exam based on the exam blueprint.

To develop questions takes knowledge and skill. All training is provided. If you would like to work in a collaborative environment with some individual work as well, consider this opportunity.

The CDMRE holds MCQ item writing workshops annually. They are typically 3 days in length and take place in different parts of the country. The 2025 workshop took place in Ottawa.

If you have any questions, or would like to volunteer for this opportunity, please contact us.
