An examination candidate has the right to appeal the result of their examination based on the examination process, not content. To do so, the candidate must lodge a formal appeal with the CDMRE Appeal Committee (along with any applicable fees) within 15 business days of the release of the examination results. The appeal will be considered and processed in an expeditious and fair manner. An appeal will not result in a passing mark or the rescoring or remarking of an exam.
Grounds for appeal
Where a candidate believes that a failing examination result was due to one or more of the specified circumstances outlined below and the candidate files an appeal, the Appeal Committee will review the candidate’s specific circumstances to determine which of the remedies outlined below may be provided.
An appeal will be considered by the committee only if an incident report is submitted:
- for the MCQ, by the end of the day on which they completed the examination
- for the OSCE, before the candidate leaves the examination site
and the candidate claims that failing the examination is due to one or more of the following specific circumstances:
- illness on examination day
- personal emergency
- procedural irregularities
Format
All appeals must be received in writing. Please forward appeals with supporting documentation to dr*******@**********ts.ca. You will be contacted to ensure appropriate processing of fees prior to your appeal being considered.
The request will be reviewed by the Appeal Committee within 30 calendar days of receipt of the appeal. In the event of conflict of interest between the candidate and a member of the appeal committee, another individual with similar qualifications will be appointed. The appeal committee may request additional information before rendering a decision.
The appeal committee will provide a decision of the appeal to the candidate as soon as reasonably possible.
